Melissa Begg

The Principal and owner of Hinterland Legal is Melissa Begg LLB (Hons) LLM (Hons). Melissa started her professional life as a journalist but moved into professional legal practice in 1996 after acquiring a degree in Law (with First Class Honours) from the University of Technology, Sydney.
After working as a lawyer for several years at top tier firm Blake Dawson Waldron (now Ashurst) in Sydney, Melissa moved to the Northern Rivers of NSW in 2000 to set up her own legal practice.
As a supplement to her expertise, in 2005 Melissa completed a Masters of Law Degree with Honours specialising in intellectual property and digital technology law.
Melissa believes that high level legal expertise should be affordable and accessible to all, not just the 'big end of town' and so she works hard to "level the playing field" for the little guy in our community. She also has a special commitment to fair trade activities and Indigenous social justice and law reform.
Melissa is fluent in Bahasa and is a keen traveller.
